Will first off I would give BeenVerified.com a failing mark. I did the 7 day free trial and cancelled it within the 7 days, I finally got a number, which was hard to find. Then they told me if I cancelled my account before the 7 days was up, I would not be charged for anything,which was a lie, because they took $2.95 out of my checking account twice and 2 payment of $24.95 out of my checking acount but it was under BIGSAVINGSPLANS.COM, whom I never joined but when I called them they get really hateful with me about it, and said I needed to call BeenVerified.com because they refered me to them, who said they could do that and take money out of my checking account. It doesn't make sense. That is stealing from others, sending your account to someother company so they can take money out of your checking account. If any of you have had this problem, please contact me. They tried to say I signed up for it, when I didn't just so they could say that I owed them money. It is all a big scam!! I am going to see what i can do about all this that has happened to me, they may be sued. Thanks Dee

Who gives them the right to share people's personal information they've compiled and sell it to people. What of the people that get hurt from that information, such as one that is turned down for a job because of what this site has on them that may not be accurate. Companies compile information on people worldwide without their consent and sell it to other people, from nosy employers and companions, to criminals, vigilanties, intelligence agencies, advertisers and any others willing to pay or steal it. Often they will have information stolen as well, including all the info needed to steal ones identity, and they don't have to tell that person their information was stolen unless they live in California, and the company does a substantial amount of business in that state so they could be sued. We need a citizens information protection agency on the Federal level to protect our info from being collected and used for ill purposes, and to prosecute identity thieves and give victims a way to clear their names and records.

This is just another TV advertising scam. They say it's free, but then they ask you for your credit card number. NOTE TO PEOPLE: IF THEY ASK FOR YOUR CREDIT CARD THEN IT IS NOT FREE! They are trying to trick you into signing up for a recurring fee on your cc card. Unless you cancel it within the trial period. How easy do you think that will be? Can you just go back to their site and say cancel it? Yeah right. You will have to call them on the phone and then they will put pressure on you to change their mind.

I could tell these sites are flawed with just the "Free Search" both BeenVerified and ZabaSearch list inaccurate information for aliases and possible relatives. It was interesting to see I lived someplace in one city, which I was in that city, that I never lived with a slightly different name, and related to someone I have never met. -10

The iPhone app (Available as a free download in Apple's App Store) allows 3 FREE background checks per week. No credit card info is solicited. I've had it for a couple of weeks and been able to use it to locate people and get addresses and phone numbers. No way for me to know if the Criminal and property info is accurate.

An accurate rating of this site would be -5, as in the site is a joke. The information is pulled from Zaba and other free sites, compiled neatly and is not free. I searched my own name and found a traffic ticket from 2000 listed under criminal records. Then searched other people whose records I could verify otherwise and their information was completely inaccurate as well. The other thing which bothers me is that employers may start relying on this inaccurate site to make hiring decisions.

I have looked up people that I know have records and none have come up at all. The lady I spoke to at BeenVerified said that if the court doesn't release the records then they never show up so theoretically you are not really seeing someones complete record. I tried to cancel and they won't even let me do that. The customer service stinks and it they believed in there product they would be okay with cancelling if someone was not satisfied with the service.

The site gives you a so called free trial but you need a credit card to verify yourself. the card gets billed if you dont cancel it within the time frame which is 7 days. i tried it and i did cancel it which was fine i was not billed again. but the info is outdated. i dont know why you need a credit card but i guess thats how they make money by people who forget to cancel it. but since its ''free'' what you get is pretty much what you pay for. there are better sites out there than beenverified. i seen the commercial on TV and i found it interesting but like is aid not the best and not the worst out there. you have to be careful with some of those sites out there online.

I just wanted to point out that there have been a lot of fake blogs created claiming that beenverified.com is not a scam. That along with all of the television commercials makes this the most elaborate scam with the largest budget I have ever seen. I actually had to add a -"beenverified is not a scam" to my search to find anything from real people.

When I looked up this person they gave old addresses where they use to live, but he's been living in this one city for several months now according to a family member. Also, Facebook even tells the new city that he's living in so BeenVerified is outdated to say the least. Most people don't have credit cards, & if it's suppose to be free then they should tell the truth on tv and say it's only free for 7 days, but then you have to pay for it. I also bet that when you cancel right away, you can't get through the phone lines or the operator will pressue you to join. What a SCAM!!!!

I used my credit card for the 7 day free trial and when I cancelled after 5 days I wasn't charged anything, so no problems there. The data, on the other hand, was not acurate; I was listed with a middle name (I don't have one) and, even worse, a felony conviction (I don't have one of those either). They agreed to change the info but when I checked back 3 months later it was still there. I wouldn't use this site to verify any of my employees.

Of course it's not free! Wake-up, people! Do you really think they are in business for their health? There is a small print disclaimer on the TV ad (that states you need to join to get in-depth information), and also on the website. This organization is like all the others that provide the same service. Much of the information is incorrect or missing. Save your money. If you really need to check out someone, hire a PI.

I signed up and used it for the trial period. It was all really useless information that anyone can find for free with a quick search on google. It doesnt accurately show criminal records. But it did give addresses and telephone numbers of the names i ran. A must have for any stalker! I had no problem with them canceling and I havnt been charged a dime.

I was a vicitm of ID theft. The person was eventually arrested but the mayhem he caused is in BeenVerified.com and they refuse to remove it, even with proof that what they publish is not about me. They are a scam artists bordering on the criminal. Does anoe know the name of the principals? I'm going to sue them personally.

I signed up for the 7 day trial and canceled the same day. You have to call them to cancel the service, but the number is easy to find on the site and it only took a few minutes to cancel. They didn't charge me for anything (not yet anyway - I'll check my statements later to make sure). The information I got was very inaccurate, with wrong ages, addresses, and criminal history listed for about half the people I searched for. I wouldn't rely on it for a background check. Most of the information they give you is already available online for free.

Check with your local state's attorney general's office online. Many have free case searches like this one: http://casesearch.courts.state.md.us/inquiry/inquiry-index.jsp I use this one all the time...and it's really free.

Some credit card companies offer "safe shopping", which allows you to set up a temporary credit card account for whatever amount you choose to risk, down to $1 - you can create a credit card account number with a $1 limit, and any attempt to charge against it will never be able to take more than a dollar (and it is a one-shot deal, unless you choose otherwise, so, if they get the dollar, that's ALL they can get). This creates a valid, active account, so it satisfies the needs of most companies who use a card to "verify" (a card with NO balance left would not satisfy them). Of course, you can always contest the dollar with your credit card company so that you won't have to pay it, but it is cheap enough protection in such cases. Good luck to you all.

Very wrong for false ad. I knew there was something fishy about it when I checked it out for Iphone Apps. Iphone App version lets you look up 3 records with less info for free and the you wait a month to do it again. Poor poor poor! I wish they'll get sued soon and loose it.

If you use a virtual credit card (available from Bank of America) you can cancel the card before the 7 days are up and unauthorized charges can't be billed.

My better judgement told me that it was a scam as soon as they asked for credit card info - but I was still tempted. Thank goodness I found this blog before making a huge mistake. For those who have been conned by Been Verified - my advice is to file a complaint with either the Better Business Bureau or The Rip Off Report - both of which may be able to help you get a refund.

Absolutely AWFUL!!!!! Information was not accurate or up to date. I didn't call within the 7 day free trial, but called after I had been charged for 1 month. 2 months later, I realized I was still being charged $16 a month (even though I had already cancelled). When I called to (once again) cancel and try and have them reimburse me for the 2 months, I was hung up on, put on hold for 50 minutes and eventually never helped. Am anxious to see if I'm charged again next month...why shouldn't I be? All they have to do is say I never called. I have not felt this screwd in awhile (and I have 2 ex-husbands - so believe me, I know what it feels like to get screwd!!!)

The reviews I read made me decide to do my own research. lets face it some of theese search places do not even deserve 1 star as a rating. They deserve a slap in the face and more so. anyhow, most of them are uselist like my dad said and god rest his sole, nothing in this world is for free. Even the free information they gave me was wrong, all the companies suck. They just want your money.

I used this site.. and its so true its not free.. what is free is to go there and type in a name and press enter.... so their idea of free and ours is different. I paid the money and did a lot of searching... And it was helpful then I ended it. Ok I was on another site that had their info and I just clicked on beenverfied's name and it took me to their site where it automatically charged me over 150.00 for a year... I called and could not get a refund for the whole amonunt.. I had to pay for a month. Ok did that... and after that month is was suppose to be nothing automatic to happen.... ok again Im doing some searching and gosh if it doesnt happen again. I am charged over 150 and call and have to take a month of the bull AGAIN. When this month ends I am going to delete the info off their site... for that reason I would never ever use them again

I really really really want this site to be good. I run a rental center and would love this info. So I sent them an email asking for a really free trial with out a cc number. Well or if that dosn't work I am going to get one of those one use discover cards and use it . It's sort of like Santa you really want it to be true.

Inaccurate to say the least. I know of criminals who check out without a criminal record on this website, and those who have a traffic ticket are listed under criminal records. Also,there is no information on civil suits, which can tell a great deal about a person , such as divorce records, financial suits and so forth. You can get the goods on anyone for free, under county records, which has everything from property, traffic,criminal,bankruptcy, civil and so forth

I gave these guys a try and found their information to be inaccurate and the bad or wrong information multiplied. My girlfriend works for the county and we compared them and we decided that the Been Verified information was to inaccurate for us to use when we needed local or national information. Again the local didn't compare to her State database.

Search for a few friends that definitely should show up on the site due to criminal history or whatever and they diddn't appear at all in the basic search before they try to charge you. But my friends little sister did who has never had a job or been in trouble or anything WTF!

Ask for credit card info, and then when you call to cancel, they don't charge your card anyway and when you call back to question it, tell you they have no record of your call to cancel BEFORE trial date is over, and refuse to refund because your free trial period is up. IT IS A SCAM. I can get as much info in the white pages, and the background info sucks. Use at your own risk; if you don't plan on keeping it, choose the monthly option because they amy say you didn't call to cancel too.

They have the wrong info on my report so i cancelled immmediatly arrest records did not show up even though i can find them this is a joke if you ask go to criminal pages.com you will see if they have a charge after it shows you you have to pay but you already know they do based on the info. they put one of my family members 18 years old and she is a kid so go figure.

UMMM HELLO?! It's free for a week, then they bill you! If they didn't ask for credit card info, what's to stop people from constantly logging on and using the service for free? The service is not free forever, it is only free for a week! I had no problem canceling. It's like Netflix free trials...same thing!

This site is not a scam, if you read the terms of service, it clearly states that if you cancel by midnight of the 7th day, you will not be charged. If you all knew how to read or knew anything about Public Records you will know that this information about you is not illegal. Beenverified is there so you know what is out there about you. It's the most transparent company out there, they tell you clearly what the deal is, right before you agree to the terms. If they charged you its because you were late on canceling.

Been Verified is a completely free site, I hate when ppl assume that there is a charge just because you have to enter a CC. They set it up that way for those that actually don't cancel during before their trail. Its an enrollment plan for those that like the site and want to enroll without a hassle. I am a member and BV did not charge me until I went over the trail and even after that happened. They worked out a great plan for me for $48/year any other place it totally costs $50.00 for one. You all spend more on drinks and sneakers. Think about it.

They ask for cc info almost any where these days. It is your responsibility to call and cancel beforethe "FREE trial" is up. Read the damn terms, it amazes me at the idiots in this world!!!! YES you can use their service for free with a valid cc, just cancel before your trial is up!! Very simple! I did it and not one single problem, just cancelled my trial in the time frame they said and bam! No charges at all!!! Stop bitching about it!

Did you know Ted Bundy had no criminal record till he was cought. He escaped and killed again and was cought and finally put to death. The point is just because someone has no record does not mean a thing. In my case Im a victim of identity theft. I had to go to the state police and get finger printed to get 14 felony charges off my record and ive never commited a felony in my life. as far as people running background checks on someone they are interested in if you believe a computer rather then get to know someone maybe you should stick with your computer because you obviously know nothing about human beings. Makes me want to throw up..

While I admit some of the data is not quite up to date it is a great website. To those who have been charged some fee you had to have signed up for something third party somewhere. I paid a full year up front and was never charged anything but my first fee. Now, for those who can't find any info on certain people. You can only get data on people who have criminal records in counties that have their public records ONLINE. Say for example you know John Doe is convicted of murder in XX county in Ohio. If XX county does not transmit their public records online, then you will not get their details unless they are still incarcerated or on parole. The reason you would even be able to get it then is because they would should active through the ODRC website. I do agree though that their address system should update more often because even my address is way behind. (Not that that's a bad thing) :)

That should be a -2 star. This is yet another bull*hit scam of how to get your credit, and using the term 'search' as free. But actually doing the leg work, records, documents etc.. does in fact cost money. Any court docket will cost anywhere (depending on what state) $2.00 to $65.00. At least other background check companies are up front about their searches. Although, I will give high marks for marketing and advertisement, great team they got there! :D Overall: -2 stars.

I just think it's so hilarious that ppl would pay money to sneak behind someone's back to find things out about them and then get mad when the company they're paying does something sneaky. All of us are capable of the same things. We just do different things because of situations we are in and everybody makes mistakes. We should not condemn ppl for their past put yourselves in their shoes. Most people don't steal, sell drugs, or even kill because they want to. Mostly it's because it may be the only thing to do in that particular situation AND NO THAT DOESN'T MAKE IT RIGHT. Also think of how many ppl who've done things and never got caught. I'd bet my bottom dollar that every single person on this entire planet has done something horrible that they regret and have broken some type of law. No matter how minut or huge it was. RIGHT IS RIGHT AND WRONG IS WRONG! So what makes you so different?

This site is not free they ask for a credit card when you sign up. And I know that a large portion of the criminal records in the country are not accessible online so there is no way the information provided is accurate.

It amazes me how some people get mad because you actually have to put a little effort into something for it to be free. LAZY!!! That's what you are, so don't blame BeenVerified because you either have horrible credit and can't get a cc or you're too lazy to cancel the 7 day trial period! It is what it is!! Plain and simple. On another note, has anyone else noticed the poor grammar, spelling, and mispunctuations in 99% of the negative reviews. Illiteracy is a disease buy a book!!!!

This is a site you really have to understand before just assuming how it works. After speaking with a rep I realized i was a bit wrong. Everything that is in the site is public information, you have to really learn your way around the site and sometimes not add a middle initial or city to find info, and in some cases after talking to my lawyer not everything in cases of jail and prison are public record this is agreat site for small search runs and backgroundchecks i found teh socail search works great found out my boyfriend was a part of sites i had no idea. The cost is low compared to iother sites the trial was worth it.

Theyre making fortunes by selling outadated data and taking like 2.95 surcharge imagine how many 2.95 x amt of idiots makes alot of money. Use lexis nexis at your local library esp when you need to know about businesses. Personal info is really hard and exp to get these site have no real acces to anything not public, also some states restrict access to information. There you have it if you can clip 3 bucks from everyone who cancels your not selling anything.
